Lucius was born in the year 80 AD into the family of a Roman physician. Although he spent his youth alongside his father, helping him in the hospital, he realized that he did not want to follow in his footsteps. Moreover, as the fourth and youngest son in the family, he saw little prospect for himself in civilian life. However, the medical skills he acquired would later prove useful on his journey.

Having listened to countless stories from his father’s patients about distant lands and military honors, Lucius decided to join the Legion, hoping that his service would allow him to save enough money for a peaceful and carefree life.
